On a physical tangible level, we all have relationships from every walk of life. From the wee little ones to our more adult wise ones. Friends, relatives, neighbors and coworkers are all viable relationships that we develop during a lifetime.
Now, there is one more relationship that kind of gets lost in the shuffle, but none the less is extremely important. Actually, when we think about it for a moment, the relationship with the Spirit-self IS the most important relationship we will foster, albeit very much less tangible.
Since the relationship with ourselves is not a physical one and therefore non- tangible, it makes sense that we very often overlook this component of our lives.
Yes, WE are overlooking the better part of ourselves. We overlook our Spirit-self all the time.
Interesting enough, we have inner conversations with ourselves all the time and barely acknowledge who or what we are actually having the conversation with.
We have thoughts bouncing around our head all the time. Thinking happens all day every day. We pose questions and get good ideas, although most thoughts are random. We meditate and often times more good ideas present themselves. We may even be grateful to finally rest and at the end of the day to turn off all the chatter going on and sleep.
You have noticed, right?
And when you wake up, the conversations begin all over again. These conversations help you to strategically prepare your day. The things you have to do, places you have to go, individuals with whom you have to meet and challenges to overcome.
You might even roll play with this Spiritual-self side; how certain events might play out or even how certain conversations may roll.
You have noticed, right?
If you have noticed, you might actually work at consciously developing this relationship. You might have pointed meditations or maybe you free associate using a stream of consciousness by means of journaling in order to expose a plethora of new ideas.
Chances are you have discovered that you actually enjoy the company you keep with this Spiritual higher thinking self of yours.
Like a very best friend, you may even begin to rely on each other. You may find yourself confiding with your higher self — after all you may have discovered what a great ‘friend’ your Spiritual-self is to you.
A friend like no other: you can reveal, disclose, divulge, confess, admit, blab, cry, laugh and even smile with a special certain knowing.
What you know is that your Spiritual-self knows that you know.
That’s how friends are. There is that special bond of mutual respect and affection that better friends have with you and it’s mutual.
With that said, who wouldn’t want to have an amazing relationship like that. Of course, as with all relationships, tangible or not, you have to work at keeping the connection viable.
We have a role to play in this relationship. The good news is the relationship with your Spirit is always there for you. There is no ego to contend with. Your Spiritual-self will wait endlessly for you during those times when you aren’t trusting or believing or worse when your ego is front and center.
Spirit waits with un-denying love, patience and tolerance until you find your way back.
Finding your way back takes time, even eons of time, lifetimes of time and still again Spirit will wait… now that is an amazing kind of ‘friend’.
For those who have not fully developed the relationship with this inner, higher self, you may be ready to take some deliberate and calculated steps in that direction.
This is not foreign or unknown to you by any means, but now you might want to do it with much more purpose.
As was just mentioned… for “all relationships, tangible or not, you have to work at keeping the connection viable.” This means waking up and turning off the unconscious thoughts for the better conscious part of you.
Let’s go over exactly what else might be required.
To start, find time for a simple sit down. Take this time to contemplate and explore the degree of the relationship you already have with your inner Spiritual-self. Acknowledge and consider this relationship you do have.
This may be a bit difficult. Remember the times you actually relied on your Spiritual nature. Remember the time a great idea seemed to poof out of nowhere, as if it fell right in your lap.
You may have shaken your head back and forth, a bit confounded coupled with an attitude of “Sheesh, where the heck did that come from?”
What about some synchronistic happenstance that literally played out… and alas, in hindsight you realized you role played the entire idea in your head a whole day ago!
That’s magical! We’ve all done it, sometimes it feels like deja vu! Certainly, on some level we are all beginning to come to the realization that something ‘bigger’ is going on.
Here are some thoughts to consider since you’re having a sit down moment anyway:
- Is a ‘good idea’ something you actually thought of, or is it more than that?
- Is the very obscure and subtleness of your Spirit giving you the idea, suggestion, hint, tip or clue?
- Were you in a particular state of mind while asking questions in order to get a new idea?
- What is that state of mind?
- Can you get yourself back into that state of mind at will?
- When you asked a question, were you prepared to receive an answer that might be beneficial to your particular issue, which caused you to pose the questions in the first place?
- Can you recognize the value of having a sit down long enough to seek the answers to questions you are searching for?
- Is it possible for you to believe and trust that these ideas are actually your higher more powerful Spiritual-self?
- Would you be OK knowing this is the higher Spirit-self you actually have a relationship with, one that you can call upon at any given moment?
Lots to think about and ponder…
Even if you are not OK recognizing you are having a relationship with your higher Spirit self, where many of your good ideas come from, you could simply harness the process and still believe all ideas are your ideas.
On some level, it doesn’t really matter.
So, why not adapt some of these thoughts and ideas. Give yourself some well-deserved credit as you successfully traverse life with all its challenges and unexpected shifts and turns.
It could be that the sheer act of recognizing and acknowledging that a relationship with yourself is the same as having a relationship with your Spirit… that they are one and the same, can make life a heck of a lot easier and seamless.
Watch and observe the magical difference!
